During this time following the tragic death of a young boy, the compassion and love shown by Lake Jackson residents and surrounding communities have been incredibly inspirational to us all.

Lake Jackson will likely remain under a boil water notice for about a week and residents should continue to avoid getting water in their noses, but the rest of Brazosport
"The most I could do with his family is to assure them that his life is not lost in vain," Gov. Abbott said about 6-year-old Josiah McIntyre, who died of the amoeba.
State experts said the boil water notice in Lake Jackson will last 2 to 3 weeks while experts assure the brain-eating amoeba that killed Josiah is gone.
The microscopic brain-eating amoeba, known as naegleria fowleri, was identified by state and federal health officials weeks after the 6-year-old boy became mysteriously ill last month and died Sept. 8.
The Lake Jackson area remains under a "do not use" advisory.
The water is safe in all cities served by Brazosport Water Authority, however Lake Jackson has a boil order still in place.
Abbott is visiting as city officials are hoping water restrictions are removed by the end of the week. Everyone wants to get to the bottom of what really happened.
In addition, Gov. Greg Abbott is due to arrive in the town Tuesday after making a disaster declaration.
