In an interview with KLBJ AM’s Todd & Don Show, Speaker Dennis Bonnen discussed the implications of the state’s $4.6B budget shortfall and prospects for navigating the next legislative cycle. Even with revenues hampered by a pandemic and the downturn in the oil and gas industry, legislators will still be on the hook for the balanced budget required by Texas law. Bonnen also shared his strong belief that our obligation to educate Texas children cannot and will not be derailed by the pandemic.
